    LA weekend

TeenzShops guide to hanging out in LA

Planning on what to do in Los Angeles? We caught up with our Founder and mother to 3 teenage girls, Jordana to discover the hottest hangouts that will keep your teens entertained right now, in sunny LA.

Teen hotspots are endless here in West LA. To kick things off,  you must head to Walking down Melrose Avenue just past Fairfax Avenue. It is quite possibly one of my favourite activities for fashion and people watching. Cafes dotted in between endless cool, curated small fashion stores selling vintage and independent brand or and second hands stores selling sneakers and so on. The vibe is vintage Carnaby Street or 90s Soho in New York (before all the big boy brands move in)!

There’s still a Starbucks and an Urban Outfitters but most of the stores are local Brands Like Cool Kicks and JoyRich. Around the Corner on Fairfax, you will find Super Hype Beast. Unmarked low budget storefronts, catch your attention because of the big bodyguard and the queue outside. Supreme, Rip n Dip, Huff, Golf. #IYKYK

Next up we have ‘Thrifting’ which is Mindblowing in LA - for me, personally it’s the Mecca of Thrift. I used to Love The Trading Post at Fairfax High School. It was safe, organised, mixed up art, jewellery and fashion well and has a great food area to get a spot of lunch and not to forget the live music adding to the super hip LA vibe. Sunday’s are definitely not for PJs or tracksuits here. If your outfit is not FIRE - go home! The style of the crowd is Uber Influencer Chic!

My new absolute favourite place is Silver lake Flea - follow them on insta to see what I mean! Small, no entrance fee and the vendors change it around each week to shake it up so there is always something new to see. However, they are always edited and perfectly curated, so you basically- you want everything. My heart broke as the girl in front of me reached over and grabbed the Vintage 90s Dior denim Baguette with beads and forked over $30. How I wanted to tackle her to the ground! I reset my energy levels and tried to be happy for her- Didn’t work- sorry not sorry!

After a cool day scavenger hunting in the flea markets- you must head off to Urth Cafe or Alfreds for the Sunday afternoon for an Insta selfie with a blended Iced Coffee. LA Baby - C’est La Vie!
